Firefighting services in the Town of West Bath are covered by volunteer firefighters.  West Bath Fire Department has mutual aid agreements with all surrounding towns and ambulance service is provided under contract with the City of Bath.
The Department is incorporated as West Bath Volunteer Fire Department, and while separate from the town, is headed by Chief Jonathan Beane - a part time, town-appointed position.
The Town of West Bath owns all buildings and equipment at the Fire Station, located at 192 State Rd., and raises and appropriates an amount each year at the annual town meeting for Fire Department operations, capital equipment, and volunteer incentive. In addition to managing a budget and coordinating volunteer training and activities, the Fire Chief conducts fire inspections throughout town. PLEASE NOTE:  Returnable bottles and cans can be donated to the West Bath Fire Department by dropping them off in their drop box located at the front entrance of the Fire Department.  All donations of any size are greatly appreciated!
