Meet Your Local Oyster Farmers

When:

Summertime in Maine - it's hard to beat spending time on the water, and the New Meadows River is as lovely as they come: eagles, osprey, seals and a river alive with fish among the islands and shoals....it's a nice place to be.  The NMR is also home to the New Meadows River Shellfish Coop, a collection of twelve oyster farms that produce the finest oysters you'll find anywhere.  As your local oyster farmers, we're on the water year-round and we are dependent on the health and vitality of this spectacular natural resource - we want you to see it too!

Come join us and see the river for yourself.

We invite you to walk the shore at any of the several conserved lands, or put in your powerboat, sailboat, kayak, SUP or the marine conveyance of your choice..come out and say hello!  We'll be on our farms, ready to talk about the river, how we grow our shellfish, teach you how to shuck an oyster and talk recipe ideas, or just get to know one another; after all, we're all neighbors.

Please join us.  Details will be listed on the website for the NMRSC, at

If the first date is rained out, we will post a note to the Coop website by 9pm the day before, so please stay tuned there for details.

This is an entirely informal event; come as you are.  We hope to see you there!
